Next Steps in your Journey with God

Giving your life to Christ is as simple as asking Jesus to forgive you of your sins and come into your life as your Lord and Savior.  He is eager to save us. "16 “For God so loved the world,[i] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. ‘ ~ John 3:16-18 

If you would like to become a Christian today, pray this simple prayer and mean it from your heart and you will be saved.  “Dear Lord, I confess that I am a sinner.  Please come into my heart and forgive my sins and help me live a new life as a follower of yours.  I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for me and rose again, proving He is God in the flesh.  From this day forward I choose to trust Him, obey Him, and follow Him all my life."

Christian Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change.  Baptism represents a person who is choosing to bury the old person and rise again as a new creation in Jesus.  Baptism shows the world that you have chosen to seek forgiveness of your sins and live a new life.  It doesn’t mean you’ll be perfect, but it does mean that you’re choosing to do your best to grow in your devotion to God.  The water represents being cleansed from the effects of sin and living in the grace of God.  The ceremony itself doesn’t save you, it represents your decision to follow Jesus.  Think of like saying “I Do” at a wedding.  It’s your way to seal your commitment to being a follower of Jesus.

While a person doesn’t have to go to church to be saved, going to church is encouraged in the Bible because it helps you stay connected to a family that will pray for you, help you grow in your walk with God, and give you a place to belong and serve.

Church is Jesus design to be a home base for reaching our world with the hope of the gospel.  It’s a place to be taught the deeper things of the Bible and a place to form encouraging relationships.  At River of Life, we don’t believe anyone should do life alone.  The Bible tells us that we need one another and that we’re better together.  

All-In is River of Life’s membership class.  It’s a 4 week study that helps you learn all about the church, the Church of God (our denomination), and will allow you to discover your unique gifts and talents.  Once you finish the class, you’ll have a good idea of where you can get involved in ministry if you choose to.  

All-In is required for anyone wishing to join the church and serve in a ministry, but many take the class just to learn more about the church.  So you’ll never be pressured to join the church, but we hope you’ll choose to become part of the River of Life family. 

We believe every follower of Jesus is a part of God’s family.  River of Life isn’t a club, it’s a family.  As such, our hope for you is that you’ll take the next step of becoming a part of the ministries of River of Life.  

One doesn’t have to join a church officially to be a Christian, but joining a church is a way for you to have a sense of belonging and ownership that goes beyond just attending on Sundays.

We hope you’ll go from saying “your church” to saying “our church”.

There’s no faster way to grow in your faith than to serve alongside other Christians.  We believe you have specific gifts and abilities from God.  He wants you to use what He gave you and we want you to use them too.  

In addition to growing, serving gives you a way to get to know other believers and form meaningful and often lifetime relationships.
